On StudySmarter, you can create a study group within your study sets to share documents, notes, and flashcards with other users and collaborate on learning together.
How to Create a Study Group

Go to Your Library:
- Select “Library” in the navigation bar.

Choose the Set:
- Select the set where you want to create your study group. Note that you can only create a study group in your own created sets.

Share the Set:
- Click on the lock icon at the top right and choose “Share”.

Invite Collaborators:
- You can now invite friends, classmates, or peers to your study group and work together on your set.
How to Invite Friends / Classmates / Peers to Your Study Group
You can invite collaborators in two ways:
By Email:
- Click on the lock icon and choose “Share”.
- Enter the email address of the person you want to invite in the “Email” field under “Collaborators”.
- Ensure that the email address matches the one the person used to sign up for StudySmarter.
- Click ”+ Add” to send the invitation.
By Link:
- Click on the lock icon and choose “Share”.
- Click the arrow next to “Settings” and enable the option “Allow collaborators to join via link”.
- Click on the blue “Copy invite link” text.
- Share the link with friends, classmates, or peers via WhatsApp or other messaging platforms.

Can I remove already added collaborators from the study group?
Yes, you can remove collaborators from the study group:
- Click on the lock icon and choose “Share”.
- Click on the X next to the contributor’s email address.
- Confirm by clicking “OK”.
Who can create content in a study group?
All members of the study group can create or upload content, such as documents and notes.
Who can edit content in a study group?
- Flashcards and Notes: Only the creator can edit them.
- Documents and Tags: These can be edited by all contributors in the group.
Do my friends/classmates/peers need to have a StudySmarter account before being invited?
No, your friends or classmates don’t need to have a StudySmarter account beforehand. They can sign up through the link and automatically become part of your study group.
Does a study group apply to one set or all sets?
A study group applies only to the specific set, meaning you can create a separate study group for each of your sets.
Are invited users automatically added to my study group?
No, each invited user must accept the invitation to join the study group.
Can other users see my private study group?
No, only members of the study group can see the group and its shared content.
Does it cost anything to create a study group?
No, creating a study group is free, even without StudySmarter Premium.
