StudySmarter flashcards algorithm

To maximize your learning progress while practicing the flashcards, we have developed an intelligent algorithm that optimizes the order in which the flashcards are displayed to you.

The order of your flashcards is determined primarily by the following factors:

Flashcards comprehension:

The better you understand a flashcard, the less often it will be displayed to you. That means you have marked flashcards as "Bad" or "OK" will be shown more typically than you have understood. Accordingly, you repeat difficult topics more typically than easier ones.

Last answer to the flashcards:

The longer you have not answered a flashcard, the more likely it will be displayed to you next. This prevents forgetting the flashcards, and like this, they will be absorbed into your long-term memory.

Flashcards Rating:

The better a flashcard has been rated by your fellow students and by yourself, the more often it will be displayed to you. Poorly rated flashcards will be displayed less typically and, above a certain threshold, will not be displayed at all.
